Many changes are in motion at Nihonsan Tools and in the wider community, and it's only just the beginning. With new classes like Will's 'Build Your Workbench' class and other new instructors introducing carving and kintsugi into the mix, there has been a lot to keep up with—even for us!
Here's a quick list of things to put on your radar:
- Carving Classes with Dan Musick have begun! More dates available soon and in addition to the chopstick/spreader class we will be adding his bird carving classes as well!
- Will and Vaishu have added more sessions of their classes to the Spring calendar, including Vaishu's Bowties & Butterflies class, and all of Will's offerings, including Build Your 'Toolbox', Build Your 'Workbench' and more.
- Makomako's Kintsugi Classes are in full bloom, with lots of sessions selling out and long waiting lists. To help,we have added a lot of new dates, including monthly sessions of her new intermediate and advanced Kintsugi classes.
- The search for a new Nihonsan space continues - we have shifted to focusing on larger spaces that allow for larger and more frequent classes, in addition to retail, events, and more. As always if you know of or see potential spaces, let Joe know!
- Although it all goes down in late July, now is a good time to register for the Maine Japanese Woodworking Festival. The annual event is a gathering and retreat for all enthusiasts, woodworkers and timber-framers from all over North America and the World. If you're not sure how you're planning to get there, join the caravan of cars driving up from NYC! Reach out to Joe & Will who will be helping to coordinate drivers and passengers.
Also, a Meetup announcement!! Joe will be getting rid of his collection of used Western hand tools at stupidly low prices or giving them away, so come ready to take a look at those as well!
Finally, here's a few photos... |
