Previous Maine Japanese Woodworking Festival fun!

Hope you all are well, and hope to see you all this Thursday from 6-8 pm at our meetup. 

A lot going on, and the big news is of course how close the Maine Japanese Woodworking Festival is now! We will be there in Mercer Maine from July 24-28, and cannot wait to see everyone and everything there. While the festival attracts some of the best known and most experienced Japanese style woodworkers from across the US and abroad, it is still incredibly welcoming to beginners and pros alike. We will be renting an Airbnb that sleeps 11 supposedly, so if anyone wants not to rough it tent-style (goddess bless you Will O'Connor, enjoy your nature!) you are welcome to join. We are also coordinating a few car pools there and back, so if anyone has questions about lodging or a ride let me (Joe) know at info@nihonsantools.com.

Kids making chopsticks!

We held our first classes for kids at Nihonsan recently, and they went pretty darn well! We held a chopstick-making class and then a decorating wood class, and the kiddos impressed us with their creativity and skills. Still figuring out the best finish to put over glitter on a chopstick, but we are getting close...

We have a slew of new classes coming up as well to be aware of, whether you have taken a class with us already or not.

Food! There is a new popup food stall at the BBFL building you must try - Empire Arancini helmed by Italian chef Ivan presents a fusion Italian Japanese menu that is pretty damn creative and delicious. Also the other cafe there now has added hojicha rice crispies to the already insane macha green tea rice crispies. Just don't want you to miss out on any of the yummyness here )looking at you Jim Snow).
